Luxury and Real Estate Photography, The Zagaleta. This time I shoot for the swiss magazine Sette Haute Style to photograph “The most expensive shelter in Europe”
The Bmw Gt climbed like a devil up the steep road to Ronda. My client and editor of the magazine I was photographing for that day was in a hurry to get to the impressive La Zagaleta housing development. “Sorry Juanjo I know you had a car accident not long ago, out of respect for you I shouldn’t run so much”, the thing already looked exciting, in just a few minutes it should portray the founder of the most luxurious urbanization in Marbella and therefore in Europe. “The photographs have to have a modern style, with a certain drama in the colour and definition” were the words of my client, I knew perfectly well what he meant. The equipment used? Light to work with the speed with which I had already anticipated my client would happen everything.
- Canon full frame Eos 5-d body
- Target 70-200 EF L USM 2.8f
- Elinchrom Translucent Umbrella
- Speedlite 580
- Pocket Wizards dedicated Canon radio controls
Business photography, portraying entrepreneurs
Knowing how to take an innovative and intimate photograph in an assignment like this is a challenge in itself. Understanding the situation, protocol, education and knowing how to transmit to a celebrity the type of photography you are going to do that sometimes can be “risky” when precisely the big businessmen are not very risky, is my opinion 🙂
All this added to the fact that you have an assignment, a style and a minimum number of photos needed to cover a story that is going to be seen in an international publication. Concentration, creativity and technique added to all the above.
Exquisite details
As I have said many times, photography, being a photographer, has opened the door to situations that would have been difficult to find in any other profession. After the photo shoot in a villa that would host the welcome party of a famous Swiss watchmaker in a few weeks, we were invited by the management of La Zagaleta to a wonderful and very pleasant lunch with views of the impressive valley from the golf course to the sea of Marbella in the background.
The lunch was spent while we discussed details of why they make La Zagaleta the most exclusive urbanization in Europe. As it says in this detailed article from the newspaper El Mundo “Guests can take a helicopter to go to Seville for lunch and many other details http://www.elmundo.es/papel/historias/2016/02/01/56ab4db622601d7a7b8b461f.html
Results and conclusions
Once again the telephoto lens is presented as the ideal lens to take pictures without being “invasive” with the character to be portrayed as shown by the photos that took place during the interview. For the more dramatic portraits and to get a more stabilized exposure as well as a closeness and dialogue with the character I used my Canon 24-105 in the 50mm focus.
If you have more questions or want to continue developing the photographic technique, I will be happy to assist you.
Until the next post!
